DALLAS, TEXAS, January 1, 2015

Today, Daniel Pidgeon, Chairman of Dallas, Texas-based Starpower Home Entertainment Systems, Inc. (Starpower) assumes the role of Chairman of the Executive Board of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the owner and producer of the International CES®. Pidgeon has been active in the industry for 19 years and this new role has him representing over 2000 member companies and the $211 billion dollar consumer electronics trade association.

“I am humbled and honored to be representing the most dynamic industry anywhere. I am fortunate to witness the best and brightest bring incredibly innovative ideas to life. No other industry impacts consumers more than the members of CEA,” says Pidgeon. “CEA promotes innovation across all technology including not just consumer devices, but health, automotive and everywhere technology improves lives.”

CEA’s 2000 members form a broad representation of companies and industry segments including: Apple, Microsoft, Verizon, Sony, Samsung, Pandora, Cisco, Gibson Brands, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Netflix, HBO, Uber, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Mattel. “Consumer electronics impacts lives in many ways and on diverse platforms,” Pidgeon notes. “CEA’s umbrella includes innovative companies across almost every industry.”

While the CEA is best known for producing the International CES held each January in Las Vegas, Nevada, CEA also helps promote government policies – legislative and regulatory – that support economic growth, create jobs and keep government from stifling innovation. CEA is active on issues such as Strategic Immigration Reform, Privacy, Patent Reform, Free Trade and other issues important to the U.S. economy and preserving the nation’s global leadership in innovation.  As chairman, Pidgeon will help promote and represent the consumer electronics industry with much of his time dedicated to working with CEA staff and government officials on policies that insure innovators continue to thrive. “CEA promotes government policies that help the overall economy, thus benefitting sales of consumer electronics products. CEA’s work is crucial in preserving US leadership in innovation,” says Pidgeon.  “CEA has an important role on Capitol Hill, as well as in government agencies, state capitols and, increasingly, with foreign governments as the organization continues its leadership on key, pro-innovation policy issues. I look forward to supporting these important efforts of CEA to promote issues that directly affect everyone”.

Pidgeon grew up in a family retail business that was started by his great grandfather in 1907. He started Starpower with his family in 1995 and has grown the business to be one of the largest specialty audio/video companies in the United States. Pidgeon will be in attendance at CES January 6-9, 2015 in Las Vegas where he will meet with industry leaders and government officials from the United States and abroad.
