Samsung Frame Elevates Expectations for Televisions of the Future

Samsung Frame

Samsung Frame TV

The Most Beautiful Television You’ve Never Seen

Starpower Samsung Frame Elevates Expectations For Televisions Of The Future

TV technology continues to get better and better every year. TV’s which were once big plastic boxes are now wallpaper thin. There are even TV’s such as the Sony OLED which produces sound from the screen itself. There are TV’s with super rich color and some with 4K resolution. HDR TV’s. Smart TV’s. TV’s with displays over 100-inches!

But what happens when you are done watching TV? When the display is off. How does that look in your living room or bed room? Do you see it as a big black rectangle taking up space? While we love them, sometimes our televisions can bring the overall look and feel of a room down. But what if you can keep the immersive, 4K picture quality and have your TV blend in with the furniture and interior design of any room?

Designed with Style

Samsung has worked with Swiss designer Yves Behar to create a completely new category of television. It is called The Frame – the first piece of wall art that doubles as a TV. Make no mistake this is first and foremost a lifestyle product designed to enhance any living space.

The Samsung Frame Offers Design Versatility for Living Spaces

Imagine your TV is mounted above your fireplace; you happily watch a movie or your favorite show, and then you turn it off. Now, you have a blank dark screen above your fireplace. The Frame allows you to bring this blank space to life.

When powered off, The Frame will automatically enter into Art Mode which allows the TV’s screen to display exclusive works of art ranging from paintings to images from personal photo libraries. The Frame allows you to change the art on your wall in an instant – anytime the mood strikes.

Starpower Samsung Frame Elevates Expectations For Televisions Of The Future

Having a family get together? The TV allows you the ability to display personal pictures so you can put up that picture of Grandma and the kids on the display just in time for her summer visit. Maybe you want a painting or print? Samsung’s collection of curated art and mattes give instant access to more than 100 pieces of art to choose from with several categories including landscape, drawing, wildlife, architecture and more. Swiss designer Yves Behar has stated that many more art works will be sourced.

No matter what piece you select, your art will look real thanks to the display’s brightness sensor which intelligently detects ambient light. It adjusts the color and brightness settings so your art always looks real regardless of where it is or what the time of day.

Flexible Design Options for Any Space

The overall design of the frame is Samsung has three customizable frame options you can add. Walnut, Oak and White frames easily attached to the outsize bezel to perfectly compliment the décor of any room.

Starpower Samsung Frame Elevates Expectations For Televisions Of The Future

When power on, The Frame delivers a superior range of brilliant color and rich contrast over Full HD thanks to 4K HDR Pro technology. It displays a wider range of light and dark in the same scene, adding detail to every picture. Samsung’s 4K Color Drive Extreme technology gives you exceptional color. With over one billion colors more than standard 4K UHD, you see a more vivid, realistic picture.

In order to keep the electricity bill down, The Frame has a built-in motion sensor which detects people’s movement. The TV will automatically activate power-saving mode when there is no one in the room and turn back on when someone enters.

Nothing ruins a room’s design more than lengthy wires. Samsung’s No Gap Wall-mount and Invisible Connection allows The Frame to be mounted on the wall just like a picture frame or painting without messy cables, making it a complete package for the living space.

The Frame by Samsung is a completely new category of TV that elegantly enables you to make any space more welcoming, more entertaining, and more inspiring.

New Sony OLED A1E Series – Everything You Need to Know

Sony Oled 4K Ultra Hd

Starpower Highlights the Features of the New Sony OLED A1E

Sony OLED A1E Series Overview

Sony’s new OLED A1E TV’s are on sale now and catching the eyes of those looking for their next home-run in their in-home entertainment experience. The new OLED adopted display has given Sony the ability to produce unrivaled pure blacks creating jaw-dropping contrast. Paired with its new design, audio tech, and X1 Extreme Processor Sony has created a spectacle for a TV.

Sony has paired its OLED A1 with a new design called the One-Slate. The TV is composed of two parts. One being the panel itself, and the other being a dual function kickstand which tucks the inputs and outputs into it. Along with a subwoofer built into the stand. The reasoning behind the added kickstand is to eliminate the gap between the bottom of the panel and the cabinet that the TV sat on to help the viewers focus on the picture. This design adds to the pleasurable picture, however, might also possess some drawbacks. Having a kickstand would mean that the TV cabinet that is being used would have to be completely free of clutter. Because any consoles or boxes that currently sit in that gap, that the stand is trying to get rid of, would have to be moved elsewhere since they would be in the way of the TV.

Sony-Oled-A1E-Back Panel-Starpower-Dallas-Phoenix

X1 Extreme Processor

The A1’s key to success is the combination of the OLED display and its X1 Extreme Processor. The secret to the great performance of OLED is its light emitting pixels that make up the entire screen. Since these tiny pixels are capable of creating its own light, it possesses the ability to only use the pixels that are required and essentially turn off the ones that aren’t. Creating absolute black and amazing vibrant color popping images because of the contrast being created. The Sony X1 Extreme Processor only enhances this advantage. The processor has the ability to focus on pockets of color on an image-by-image basis. For example, if it were to see a blue sky it will know to make that a richer more vibrant blue than a normal color. This upscales the quality and enhances the specific details of the different images that are being displayed. The processor also adds to the total brightness levels to create even more vibrant colors. The combination of both OLED and the X1 Extreme Processor tech creates an unbelievable image that rivals for the best on the market.

Acoustic Surface

The A1 has significantly brighter images and has great viewing angles however the true innovation is in its new sound system called, “Acoustic Surface”. Acoustic Surface is where the display itself transmits sounds through vibrations rather than a separate set of speakers. This sound actually comes directly from the screen which helps to sync up the sound with the video more accurately.

The Bottom Line – OLED A1E Series at Starpower

People are unsure if the new design and expensive price is worth what is seemingly being promised and whether or not the new Acoustic Surface tech will produce effective sound. However, Starpower customers continue to be amazed at the picture quality as well as the sound quality when they demo the new technology on our showroom floor. Our bottom line? We think this series of televisions features best-in-class picture quality that will knock your socks off. The combination of the OLED blacks and the X1 Extreme Processor makes beautiful images that are unrivaled by competitors. And it is that quality that makes the Sony A1E TV’s a spectacle to witness in your home.

See the New Sony A1E Series at Starpower today!

Experience the technology the way it was intended to be seen. Don’t settle for the big box retailer experience – come into Starpower and demo the new Sony A1E Series today. QLED vs. OLED – Different Names, Totally Different Technology

Starpower Audio/Video is the leader in QLED and OLED technology. Compare and Contrast the Differences between QLED and OLED in-store or online.

OLED has previously dominated the industry through its claimed better contrast, wider color range, ultra thin display, and better durability than the rivaled LCD TV’s. However with the new QLED TV’s well on their way, people begin to wonder if OLED is still the top dog on the market. The unveiling of Samsung’s new QLED TV’s has given rise to speculation on whether it can rival or surpass LG’s OLED tech.

Overview of OLED

OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) TVs are largely successful as they do not require a backlight as do competing products. Instead they create light through the application of electricity through thin films of organic molecules. This gives OLED the ability to only use colors and emit light when needed. This makes OLED the only tech that can create an absolute black, making the color contrast near unlimited. Contrast ratio is considered one of, if not the most important aspects when it comes to creating a good quality picture. This makes OLED very attractive and desirable for an exhilarating home entertainment experience.

Shop Starpower’s Line-Up of OLED Televisions now.

Overview of QLED: Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode

QLED (Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode) was just recently released by Samsung who claims it to be, “The Next Innovation in TV.” Quantum Dot technology uses tiny particles between 2 and 10 nanometers in diameter. These tiny particles have the ability to give off more vibrant lights, brightness, and a wider diverse color range. It’s brightness ranges from 1500-2000 nits opposed to OLEDs 600 nits. Though the level of brightness is much higher than their competitor, QLED still manages to use only half of the power that OLED uses to run. Not only do these Quantum Dots give off a way higher range of brightness and color but they are also seeming to be more cost effective to produce. Samsung has also made strides in improving the contrast ratio with their new technology, however still not to the same level as the OLED.

Shop QLED Televisions now.

Breaking Down QLED

Though OLED has proven to be effective on the market and popular among consumer demand, the new QLED TVs seem to be a bigger bang for your buck. QLED produces a level of brightness and vibrant colors that have not been previously accomplished as well as being energy efficient. All while being more cost effective to mass produce and buy than OLED. Samsung’s new QLED tech seems to have the tools to launch itself into a huge success in the in-home entertainment market. It is seemingly more than capable to hold its own against competitors and possesses the potential to surpass even the most dominant in the industry.

Sony’s Exciting New 4K and OLED TVs for 2017

Sony Oled

Sony unveiled its new and impressive lineup of OLED and LED 4K TVs at CES 2017.

The XBR-A1E Bravia OLED is Sony’s flagship series for 2017. The OLED series comes in 55, 65 and 77-inch sizes. According to Sony moving to OLED allows it to offer a TV with “unprecedented black levels, rich and lifelike color, dynamic contrast, blur-less image, and a wide viewing angle.”

Support for Dolby Vision HDR is built in, and a chip called the 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme powers the whole thing. The TV is very, very thin and looks elegant.

New Sony OLED is Coming Soon!

The audio technology in the OLED TVs is unconventional and exciting. Sony came up with something it’s calling Acoustic Surface Sound Technology. So audio from your movies and TV shows will sound like it’s coming directly from the display itself. Sony claims this approach “produces a wide sound and image synchronization from all angles, even off to the sides.”

All of the new TVs are also the company’s first to integrate with the Google Home smart speaker. So, you can issue voice commands to the TVs from the smart speaker.

Sony’s new OLED Bravia runs Android TV. The OS provides access to Sony’s Ultra 4K HDR streaming service and to Sony’s PlayStation Vue, a live TV-streaming service. Android TV also features Chrome Cast, enabling the TV to play audio and video content from Cast-enabled apps on smartphones, tablets, and PCs.

Sony X930E and X940E Series

The new 4K X930E/X940E series are successors to last year’s X930D/X940D series which consisted on some of the best 4K TVs for 2016. They’ve been upgraded with faster performance compared to last year’s line and also support Dolby Vision and improved HDR output. The X930E comes in 55 and 65- inch variants whereas the X940E has 75-inch screen size.

The two X930E models feature Sony’s upgraded Slim Backlight Drive+ technology, a grid-array edge lighting that delivers more precise local-dimming control than the previous iteration of the technology.

The X940E doesn’t include Slim Backlight Drive+ but does feature a full-array direct LED backlighting according to Sony.

The XBR-X930E/X940E series is also powered by Sony’s 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme chip, which the company said offers 40 percent more real-time processing power than 4K Processor X1.

Home Security – Analog Cameras vs IP Cameras

Home Security

Analog Camera Based Security Systems vs Digital IP Security Systems

Analog video cameras have a majority of market share today, but the video surveillance space is undergoing migration from analog to IP video cameras. “Analog” is quickly becoming synonymous with “outdated” so it’s certainly something to think about: maybe it’s time to step into the future.

Analog camera based systems – An analog camera captures information and sends the video signal in a format that can be viewed on an analog television and/or recorded over storage disks, DVRs.

IP camera based systems – IP based cameras combine the capabilities of a camera with some PC functionality that don’t require a direct connection to a PC to operate and can be placed anywhere within a network. In other words, an IP camera is a “network appliance”, just like any other IP device on the network. It has its own IP address, and can be accessed and controlled over any IP network such as a WAN, LAN, Intranet, or Internet.

Why are the users migrating to IP Camera Surveillance Systems?

Remote accessibility

The biggest advantage of IP surveillance is that users can access real-time video from any computer, anywhere. The digital video outputted from these cameras can be transported over the LAN or Internet and stored at multiple remote locations for requirements such as information security, disaster recovery etc. Whereas, in the case of analog systems video has to be viewed from places which are physically tethered to the camera and information is stored in storage solutions such as DVR that have limited flexibility in terms of expansion and hardware changes.

The new IP cameras are smart and can detect motion and are able to view, sense and notify monitoring stations of any irregular activities. Whereas, analog cameras are just a set of “eye balls” panning over an area.

Unlimited Scalability

It’s easier to configure IP based systems for current requirements and just as easily expand or re-configure as needs change. One or more cameras can be added to the network with no additional cabling or power requirements. Most importantly, these changes can be made without losing the investment in the original system.

Storage and Bandwidth requirements

It is possible to trigger video recording only when some sort of irregular movement is detected. This drastically reduces the storages space requirements for the video feed. Also, the latest compression rates such as H.264 can compress to about 80% of the raw bit rate.

The initial cost for IP system is certainly substantial, but it’s important to remember that a single IP camera can take the place of three or four comparable analog cameras due to the increased coverage area. So while a single unit may cost more, you’re ultimately buying less cameras. Separate power sources aren’t necessary for IP cameras if you use a POE switch, so you can save money on power supplies. In addition, low-cost storage options like hosted video make IP systems a much more affordable option than location-based analog solutions.

Image Resolution

IP cameras provide higher resolution than the analog cameras. Check out a sample below.

Analog-Vs-Ip Camera-Image-Sample

Secure Access and Encryption

IP cameras have a plethora of security mechanism options such as authentication via 802.1x mechanisms, encryption via advanced encryption standards AES or secure access via HTTPS and VPNs. Analog camera based networks are extremely vulnerable to attacks like man-in the middle, spoofing etc. IP based systems provide complete end to end network protection from such attacks.

What is 4K Ultra HD?

Sony Oled 4K Ultra Hd

 What is 4K Ultra HD?

The answer is simple. Higher resolution images. Multiply the number of pixels on your current 1080p screen displays (1,920 x 1,080) by four, and that’s how many pixels are in 4K Ultra HD displays…around 8 million (3,840 x 2,160). The more pixels there are the more detail that can be brought to an image. Those 8 million pixels make all the difference. 4K Ultra HD will unlock more of the story in your favorite movies and TV shows. With 4 times the resolution of current 1080P, you’ll notice details of characters and scenes that you’ve never been able to see before.

4K Televisions - What'S The Difference

Get four times the picture resolution of full HD 1080p. The increased pixel density allows you it sit very close for a fully immersive experience                        Improve the picture quality of your current TV shows and movies to near 4K Ultra HD quality. Big movie studios, such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, have been recording and remastering movies in 4K for years. Sony began offering 4K projectors as early as 2004. The projection of 4K movies took hold of the masses in 2011 as more 4K movies were released and more theaters adopted the new technology. Today, there are more ways than ever to get 4K content.

For on-demand streaming, you can fire up Netflix or Amazon Instant Video to get movies and TV shows delivered in 4K quality. Each service offers exclusive movies and shows which were filmed or remastered in 4K. More streaming media services, such as Vudu and Hulu, have announced plans to release 4K content within the year. You can watch a multitude of different videos in glorious 4K on YouTube. YouTube has been streaming 4K videos since 2010.
